Scholarship helping beyond

The importance of scholarships help more than just pay for college. Most people don't realize that when you receive a scholarship that it changes your life & helps out those close to you. Such as your family will appreciate it so much knowing that your able to get an education & not have to worry about nothing but feeding yourself. For example in a dangerous neighborhood then your giving & earned a great opportunity to go to college then move away from it. Not everybody can be really good at playing sports or have thousands of stacks of money laying around. So when you earn a scholarship whether for academics or sports or even just applying for good scholarship competition you should use it fully to your advantage.

Reflection Blog

What I have left to do..

  • Get my GPA up
  • Retake my SAT
  • Take some college visits
  • Try to get admit to schools
To get my GPA up all I can is get A's & B's for the rest of the time I have left in High School. Ill retake the SAT when school starts again next year. Then colleges visits ill do as my senior year starts & continue next year.

Academically I'm not where I want to be or where i need to be. To get recruited for basketball scholarship you need at least 2.3 or 2.5 . I wish I transferred back to Life Red Oak my Sophomore year because I didn't take my grades serious enough at my last school. Now here my Junior year 5 weeks left until I'm a Senior playing catch trying to do anything to my grades up as much as I can. Just in case my one year of Varsity doesn't help me get any looks so I don't have to pay for school.

As the next 13-14 months go by I might have to adjust my college list & might have to look into going to Juco & transferring after two years. I want to go to a Division 1 school, but I know the reality of it that next year might be my last year playing basketball in uniform. I'm always thinking about after high school should I go overseas & play basketball get paid to do something I love. Then save up to go to school I want. Once i get my degree start working with already still having money from overseas.

Comparing School Systems

In the US school system I would rate us a 7. We are given a lot more opportunities when you compare us to other countries who don't have as much as us. For example we have tutoring before and after school,if needed other countries kinda have to balance out when they ask there teachers. So I'm thankful that our school is very interactive with students.

College Degree

In my opinion you don't always need a degree to be successful in life. Degrees only show that you attended school again after high school. Major corporations would like there employees because it looks good on the company & raises the imagine on the company. So its not really worth it but if you get into college on scholarship & FASFA use it. Just make sure you pick a major you can see yourself using as a career.

Theme

Wednesday

In my opinion of the Dead Poets Society movie, I think the central message & theme of the movie is you only leave once. Like each character where daring in there own way once you separated them by the events. Like Uywanda (aka Charlie) he was the wild & most daring one out of all the group of friends. He was threaten multiple times & even got a beating by the old man who i think is the principle. There fore the central theme to me about this movie is be your self but cautious at certain times.

Thursday

I feel like Neil was going to kill his self eventually because Mr. Keating was really helping Neil with his confidence & make him feel better about himself. Charlie was the bravest out of all Mr. Keatings students, Charlie was a wild & did some pretty dumb things but he wasn't a coward like Neil who took the easy way out of life & committed suicide. Then the person who probably put the books in Neil room was Todd since he was so nice to him when they where on the ruff & they threw away his birthday gift. He probably did it as a favor for his roommate.

Friday

1) My Dad had a major influence on me, he should me how to survive if anything where to happened to him. He showed me how to cook for myself, pay bills, & how to drive. Taught me right from wrong be respectful to those who show respect back if not don't tolerate it & separate my self from. & watch those who i have around. I do think about it everyday was there more my Father wanted to teach or show before his time was up on this Earth.

2) I agree with some what of it what Mr. Keating said. Poetry is everything & anything you think it is. Poetry doesn't have a right or wrong answer . That's how I look & feel about poetry just let poetry be what it is to you.

3) Yes I agree with Mr. Keating, its kinda like how i deal with feelings. I might be smiling & laughing on the outside but on the inside I'm hurting, crying, sad, more than I can show so I keep it inside & continue on with my life.

4) I would hope my last verse would be Chris Reed was a good, true friend, & stay trued to anybody that really knew him. Also kept us entertained, very chilled & laid back guy.

Mona Lisa Smile

The roles for women in 1950s portrayed in the movie would be looked at as weird & crazy in our society. The women didn't work because there dreams where to be housewives, take care the kids, have dinner ready by 5 o'clock . Katherine Watson felt like those very intelligent women should pursue there dreams & go on to law or medical school if that's what they want to do. Also that they shouldn't waste there smarts after they get married & also suggested that her students shouldn't be in a hurry to be married.

Katherine Watson was labeled as unorthodox because of teachings methods. The dean board wanted her to be the teacher they want with giving them the lesson plans, had to make sure they approved before she could give it to her students & also couldn't have a relationship with her students & couldn't give them advice. She did all of those things & that's why at the end of the movie she decide to leave because that's basically take away the soul of a teacher.

Mona Lisa smile vs Charles Dickens novel

In the movie Mona Lisa style compared to Charles Dickens novel is very different from each other because Charles Dickens novel states that he only wants facts & only facts. Katheryn Watson the teacher from Mona Lisa Smile is more a learn & trying to relate to her students when they talk about Artist & there art paintings. Explaining how & why the paint looks, then wanted them to examine paintings closely to appreciate the art.

Mona Lisa Smile

Mona Lisa Smile was a good movie. It was very predictable though in my opinion. From the plot of each scene & everybody role. My favorite part of the movie was the teacher deciding not to go back another at Wesley & pursue going on traveling to Europe. It was my favorite part because she wasn't going to let the board of school change her way of teaching & changing others. Which has a part with the page number quote said in the movie.

Mona Lisa post

I think from the trailer of Mona Lisa Smile the movie will be about a teacher or who is trying to help her very intelligent students finish college. Then help them move on into a higher level such law school or medical school. She wants to help her students use there education, not just settle for marriage & waist all that education they learned. Also while she enjoys her own life having a husband & showing how they're suppose to live there lives married woman.

Exams

My thoughts on exams are you have to do it to see what you know from the whole semester. Once you enter middle school usually start taking them into you finish high school & if you do decide to go to college. Exams aren't really that bad unless you take 3 exams 2 days in a row then you just get tired of test really quick. The easiest exams for me are Math,History, Science & Electives. Then the hardiest exams for me is English,English, & English. I struggle with English besides that I don't have to many problems in school when it comes to classes & exams. Some ways to prepare for exams is just study, get some rest, & relax while taking. Then you should do fine on your exam & move on to the next semester.
